Head of Portfolio Strategy

The Head of Portfolio Strategy will be immersed in strategic and operational analysis as well as take a lead role in driving strategic projects within the business. This role will enable Tune to make better strategic and operational decisions to unlock regenerative medicine by leveraging our TEMPO epigenome editing platform. Reporting to the President & CFO, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with key stakeholders from both within and outside the organization in order to provide Tune’s Leadership with recommendations, actionable data and insights in order to develop, plan, and execute our portfolio of programs. Stakeholders within the organization include research, regulatory, clinical development, CMC, finance, business development while stakeholders outside Tune’s include external partners, KOLs, vendors and academic institutions. The successful candidate will provide market data, competitive intelligence, and commercial, physician, and insights to inform strategic decisions to the broader organization. The ideal candidate will be creative, solutions-oriented with ability to navigate challenges that arise. They will possess ability to influence, drive impact and take direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and continually analyze and prioritize our portfolio and recommend new programs including target and indication analysis, using internal and/or external resources while working closely with the R&D team
- Conduct integrated portfolio assessments in partnership with the R&D, CMC, Finance and Business Development team, including recommendations for strategic choices and trade-off assessments
- Communicate disease / indication market insights to relevant internal stakeholders, identifying considerations and implications for strategic decision making
- Responsible for commercial assessment of opportunities, in collaboration with cross-functional groups, for the purpose of partnerships, licenses and acquisitions (inbound and outbound)
- Continually assess the clinical and commercial value of current and emerging assets utilizing KOL and internal teams, published scientific literature, market research, syndicated reports
- Assess competitive landscape
- Provide functional input to Leadership to help define and execute on strategic priorities
- Work with external partners and vendors to advance programs
Qualifications
- Advance degree (MBA, PhD, MD, JD, etc.) coupled with at least 7 years of experience working in or serving the life sciences industry required, which may include management/strategy consulting or private equity
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, suggest improvements to current systems as well as establish new processes
- Excellent analytical skills and strategic agility
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Willing to get involved in ad hoc projects with a can-do attitude
- Ability to both influence key stakeholders as well as drive for decisions and outcomes when necessary
- Able to thrive in a highly dynamic, fast paced, continuously changing environment with minimal oversight/direction
